For the past 50 years the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has been in the vanguard of animal welfare. Despite our very best efforts for the many thousands of animals that we help, there are many more that are desperately in need!

For the past 50 years the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has been in the vanguard of animal welfare. Despite our very best efforts for the many thousands of animals that we help, there are many more that are desperately in need!

Initially the ISPCA Head Office was based in the Dublin area, with two Inspectors covering our nationwide welfare work.  In October 2002 the I.S.P.C.A. openedIreland’s National Animal Centre in Keenagh, Co. Longford.

The centre is used to support our core function, the rescue, rehabilitation and responsible rehoming of the most cruelly treated and neglected animals. The location, in the Midlands enables us to serve all areas of the country.

Following the centres opening, the Society further expanded its services and employed an additional four welfare Inspectors with a supporting cruelty help line.

These initiatives brought with them huge financial implications for our Society (a registered Irish charity CHY5619), and while we must continue our vital work we cannot do so without the support of members of the public, and organisations willing to help.

As an animal charity, we do not qualify for lottery funding.  We received a one off grant from the government in December 2006 for €80,000, to run all of our services; which although appreciated only meets a fraction of our operating costs.

ispca_2.jpg We have launched a new fundraising initiative, its origins came directly from some of the bride’s and groom’s to be.  As your special day approaches, please spare a thought for the lives you could touch by considering one of our alternative ideas!  And truly make you day one to remember!

Wedding favours

Why not give your guests a really memorable and worth while gift, instead of sugaredalmonds or chocolates!  The ISPCA has a variety of favours available, with all proceeds going to the charity.

  • Customised table certificate to say a donation or sponsorship of a kennel, Cat Pod or Stable has been made in lieu of favours.
  • A Pin Badge, or a unique and practical trolley key ring gift for your guests that won’t be left behind.

Unique Wedding Gift

Unsure of what memorable gift to give the bride and groom!

Why not arrange for a plaque to be positioned at the ISPCA National Animal Centre by sponsoring a kennel, cat pod or stable!

Or for the bride and groom, please add sponsorship to your wedding list!

Check out the ISPCA Brochure for some products available to you.

Donations made in lieu of gifts

A custom has evolved that instead of receiving wedding presents, a donation is made from the guests to a charity on the couple’s behalf.

  • Many couples now co habit before getting married and will already have the various items that would be traditionally given as presents.
  • All involved with this type of giving, will have a feel good factor that they have donated to a worthy cause.
  • A gift to a charity will take away the worry of guests having to choose a suitable present.
  • The donation made will have a personal touch, of connecting with the cause close to the bride and grooms hearts.
  • A memorable gift.

The ISPCA will place a plaque in the couples chosen facility, (Kennel, Cat Pod or Stable) at the ISPCA National Animal Centre, with the details of their marriage, as a lasting acknowledgement to their kindness.

We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals
